Swept Away….

Today is rainy and dreary.  I’m also a little bit sleepy this morning because my wonderful 3 year old decided to wake up a 4am this morning.  Not sure what that’s all about, but here’s hoping it doesn’t happen again!!!

If you’ve read my blog before, you may have seen a post or two about wedding photos in the rain. Today I’m going to show you a few more amazing shots!

They say pictures are worth a thousand words, right? The thing is that every one of the photos I’m posting today left me speechless.

This photo was taken by The über talented Angela Smith of Angela Smith Photography. I seriously can’t get enough of her work and this particular picture stopped me in my tracks!! This photo is from an engagement session and I think it looks like it should be in a magazine!

How about this one?  Helloooooo romance!

I ❤ this photo and apparently so do many other people since it was 2011’s BEST Wedding photo in Canada!!!

Have a fabulous day!

Rain, rain, don’t go away quite yet……

Sounds odd to say, right? Especially on your wedding day?

The thing is that if you have a super fabulous photographer, then you are in luck. Yes, I know getting wet can be a little frustrating when you’re hair is done, make up is done, and you’re probably wearing the most beautiful gown you’ll wear in your life. The fact is that the memories you can capture with a little rain are phenomenal.

Take these photos for example ->;;;

Are you in love with the colourful umbrellas as much as I am?

Photographers are like artists…teditions the best lighting to take your pictures in and can edit your photos to create the most amazing memories of your wedding day!

Like this one ->;;;

Can you imagine how perfect the timing had to be to get this one???

I’ve shown you this one before, but I LOVE IT!

And if you’re a prepared bride, you may end up with some pictures of matching rain boots, although mis-matched is more fun in my humble opinion!!!!!

I hope I haven’t overwhelmed you with pictures, but I can’t get enough of wedding day shots with rain.

Have a fabulous day! (even though it’s miserable out!!)

Not so traditional wedding photos……

Happy Wedding Wednesday!!!!!!

So, apparently my love for all things wedding has rubbed off on my husband as he brought this video to my attention on the weekend.  A friend of his from work was at this wedding and helped choreograph this photo shoot!

The Dundas and Yonge intersection in Toronto is also known as a “scramble intersection”.  This means that once every cycle, traffic stops in all four directions leaving the intersection clear for pedestrians to cross any way they want.

This couple (and their entourage) took advantage and had to perfectly time out every trip into the intersection with their photographer and a couch in tow.  The results are some original wedding photos.

This picture is from the photographer’s website – amazing!!!!

See the video here->

Have a fabulous day!!!!!!!!

You can’t tell me those didn’t deserve to be posted.  I LOVE how creative photographers can be and when they have a couple who is up for anything you get amazing photos!

Well done brides, grooms, and super talented photographers! <- this is why you should ABSOLUTELY be picky with your wedding photographer!  You can never retake these photos.  Make them awesome!

Rain doesn’t have to be a bad thing at your wedding….

It’s been over a month since my last post and I am feeling super guilty here!  Things have been crazy busy in the Uptown Designs Studio (exciting!!), add to that my three year old getting his tonsils&adenoids out and I’m a tad behind on the blogging front.

Today is a gloomy day.  It’s cloudy and rainy and I thought today would be the perfect day to highlight how awesome rain can be on your wedding day!  I realize that a rainy day isn’t exactly the wedding day most brides dream of, but things happen.  You can’t control the weather so why not make the most of it…and the right photographer can capture some amazing memories for you!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a perfect example of how amazing rain can be for your photos!  Breathtaking…that’s the only word that comes to mind when I look at this photo!

How about this couple?!?!?!

I don’t know them, but I think I love them.  I mean, not everyone would agree to going out on a lake in a rainstorm on the wedding day, right?

The other thing about rainy days is the RAIN BOOTS!  You can colour coordinate them if you know there’s a possibility of showers.

Love the different colour boots in this pic!

And I don’t really think you can go wrong with matching pink boots!

While things may not always go your way on your wedding day, it will absolutely be a day you will remember for the rest of your life so HAVE FUN!

I’ll be posting some of my recent work later on this week so stay tuned!

Hearts a plenty – Inspired by V-Day

I can’t believe it’s Thursday already!  I’ve totally been slacking on the blogging front over the past week or so as I was planning a little fete for my hubby at a local restaurant.  Including a SAMCRO(Sons of anarchy) cake that was seriously amazing (will post pics)!!

That post will come in a few days, but this post I am dedicating to my love of pink, hearts, and the little details.  What are we talking about here?  V-day!  Yep…Valentine’s day is coming up soon and I personally am a sucker for Valentine’s day!  I truly am a lover of this holiday.  Really!  For the record, that does not mean that I want chocolates and flowers as  I personally would prefer a pretty bouquet from the farmers market on some random day than Valentine’s day.  🙂  Simple!

I do however love the little details that can be incorporated into a Valentine’e day wedding!

One great example is this picture below!  A group shot of all of your friends and family releasing red heart balloons on your wedding day.  Cute photo op, eh?  Yep, thought you may agree!  🙂

Of course there are so many other ways to incorporate hearts in a subtle way…

And the best part?  These little cuties are totally DIY – if you have some extra time on your hands!

Of course you can’t forget the food!  I for one wouldn’t like a heart shaped cake, but I thought this was a super cute cake idea.

Check out the entire dessert table!

Keep it simple and fun.  Of course if you want your venue to look like a sea of red and pink, totally up to you.

Sweet and simple is best in my eyes.  Like these pink peonies.  I LOVE peonies!

What would you do if your wedding was cancelled 2 hours before it was to begin?!

Happy Thursday!!!!

I watched this video this morning for the first time and couldn’t resist sharing.

We’ve all seen those videos of wedding mishaps, right?   The bridal party on the dock posing for pictures and they end up in the water…bride or groom passing out at the alter…no outdoor wedding as planned because it’s raining.

Honestly though, what would you do if the wedding you had been planning for who knows how long was cancelled because of a HURRICANE 2 hours before it was supposed to start?!

That’s exactly what happened to this couple…check out their wedding video below:

I teared up a little…no surprise there, right?

As devastating as this would be, I love the end of this video when they’re talking about what is really important on your wedding day.  There are big weddings, small weddings, weddings that cost $1,000, and weddings that cost $100,000.  At the end of the day, what is the most important thing?  The bride, the groom, and sharing your wedding day with the people you love the most.  I loved how the family and friends were cleaning up and helping out, and even though the location changed, it definitely looked like everyone was having fun!

Love it!

Real Wedding – Matt and Allie

Happy Wedding Wednesday!!!!

So, I posted a little sneak peek on Friday about Matt and Allie’s wedding and I was supposed to post this Monday!  Things were just a little crazy and I am late (TERRIBLE ME!).  I am terribly excited about this one though.  I loved working with Allie and her mom and I feel extremely lucky to have played a small part in her day!

Her ceremony and reception were both held on her parents property in Listowel, Ontario.  Here is a picture of the gorgeous bride and her handsome groom.

Allie wanted her guests to have fan programs, which were designed to match her invitations with the pink and damask design.  Love this picture of the bride and groom during the ceremony in the background!

This is by far my favourite picture of the bride and groom.  Maybe it’s the awesome truck they’re sitting on, maybe it’s the fact that I can see Allie’s amazing shoes in this picture, either way I LOVE IT!

All of Allie’s decor was designed to match her damask and pink theme.  When we first met, she had a vision for all of her stationery, which I was able to pull into all of her stationery….from the programs, to the signs for the candy bar, barrel of water bottles, and flip flop barrel(not pictured), to the thank you tags which sat on the rim of the wine glass favours at each guests seat.  One of my personal favourites was the seating chart, which Allie asked me to make round (like the tables) to be mounted on the antique mirror below.

***Don’t you just LOVE the lounge area???????

Here are a few of the bridal party…don’t you love the vintage chic feel of this whole wedding?????

This candy bar is definitely something after my own heart….think jelly bellies, candy floss sweet whirls, cherry rock candy, chocolate hearts.  Well, you get the picture!

Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday!

Funny Father daughter dance to Soulja Boy

Well, it’s Wednesday…Wedding Wednesday…hump day….and for some reason I ALWAYS need a pick me up on Wednesday’s.  This video totally did it for me so I hope you enjoy it!

One pretty big trend that started a few years ago is switching up the first dance from sweet old sappy song to something fun and lively!  This trend has also extended to father daughter dances and this one is BY FAR the funniest I have seen…and could be considered slightly inappropriate for a dance with your dad!

Inappropriate or not…this is absolutely the best one I’ve seen EVER…

The bottom line is that these two are having so much FUN! I love it!

Happy Hump day and thanks for reading!
